Observation #005:

Are plastics the building block for some rare element in the distant future?

Friday Is Trash Day

Every week, as I take the garbage container to the curb for Friday’s pickup, I’m struck by a recurring thought: Are we, as humans, destined to fill the universe with trash? This routine task, often overlooked, reminds me of the endless cycle of consumption. We spend significant time and effort finding, buying, and transporting food and supplies to sustain our daily lives, only to end up discarding a substantial part of these acquisitions, especially plastics, into landfills. Considering that only certain stars produce some elements, I can’t help but wonder: Could plastic be an unintended, yet essential, ingredient for a rare element created when some stars expand or ignite?
